We Have A Savior!

Howdy All!

As we begin to enter into this festive Holy-days season (see what I did there??)… I would like to share a worship video that I just love. Enjoy, and remember the reason for this season!!

Hate Runs Deep…

If history teaches us anything… it teaches that we do not learn from history.

My heart just breaks. On Saturday morning, October 29th, 2018… a truck driver named Robert Bowers walked calmly and collectedly into a Jewish Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA. armed with an assault rifle and three handguns and murdered 11 Jews at worship… simply and only because they were Jewish. My heart breaks for all senseless cruelty in this world… but this seemed un-ordinarily  senseless.

Throughout history the Hebrew people have suffered great persecution… it is called Anti Semitism. From the medieval crusades and the Spanish inquisition to Nazi Germany and the Holocaust they have been hunted down like animals or worse.

Even the forefathers of the Protestant Reformation  were prone to this evil. The founder of Protestantism Martin Luther towards the end of his life in wrote in his work: On the Jews and Their Lies…“Set fire to their synagogues or schools,” continuing Martin Luther recommended Jewish houses should “be razed and destroyed,” and Jewish “prayer books and Talmudic writings, in which such idolatry, lies, cursing, and blasphemy are taught, [should] be taken from them.” In addition, “their rabbis [should] be forbidden to teach on pain of loss of life and limb.”

And even today within the church there is Replacement theology (also known as supersessionism) and it essentially teaches that the church has replaced Israel in God’s plan. Adherents of Replacement Theology believe the Jews are no longer God’s chosen people, and God does not have specific future plans for the nation of Israel.

Hatred runs deep.

This shows just how far things can go when we try to separate the Jew from the Bible… even those called saints can be used by the devil if we leave an opening in our lives for him… hatred, bitterness, unforgiveness, and prejudice is what the devil will fill in our lives… if we are not on guard.

The Bible declares in Deuteronomy 7:6… speaking of the Hebrew people… For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

In Genesis 17: 7 God told Abram… “I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.

And the Apostle Paul in Romans 11:16-18 in speaking of Gentiles (people other than Jews) and their relationship with the Hebrew people said… If the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are too. But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you.

God is not finished with the Hebrew people- He is in an Everlasting Covenant with them. The Christian Church is grafted into their roots- we can not separate ourselves from them.

So there should be no Anti Semitic attitude among followers of Christ (remember, Jesus was a Jew). We should pray for their recognition of Jesus as their Messiah… we should pray for their peace… but we should not hate them.

If any hatred, bitterness, unforgiveness, or prejudice towards the Jew (and in truth- any people group) exists in your life GET RID OF IT! That is accomplished through confession and repentance of that sin and be washed in the blood of forgiveness that Jesus offers.

We Christians are called to be true saints of God, not instruments of the devil.
