What are you enraged about?

So… recently I’ve been conducting an in-depth study in the book of Revelation. I have just completed chapter 11.

In this chapter, the world is in the midst of what the Bible calls “The Great Tribulation.” It is called that because there is great calamity taking place on the earth and the people of the earth. In the midst of Revelation 11, I came to verse 18, which states:

And the nations were enraged, and Your wrath came, and the time came for the dead to be judged, and the time to reward Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your name, the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”

It got me to thinking… what do the nations (and the peoples) have to be enraged about?

Nothing- that is the truth of it. The Lord has been very gracious to the nations and peoples of the world. He has provided all our needs (Acts 14:15-17, Acts 17:24-31), assigned our territories, postponed our judgment to give ample opportunity to be saved, and Father sent His son to be Savior of the world… what more could He do? Nothing. So, why are the nations angry? Because they want their own way. They want to worship and serve the creature rather than the Creator.

They will in fact here at the blowing of the seventh trumpet be trying to establish another “Babylon” if you would… man’s last attempt to build a Utopia… a heaven on earth apart from God. But, this will fail…and it reminds me of the words of Isaiah 40:15… Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, And are regarded as a speck of dust on the scales; Behold, He lifts up the islands like fine dust.

Apart from the LORD JESUS CHRIST we will always be enraged- because we are trying to fill our lives and hearts with something that only God can fill. And that is authentic love, peace, joy and happiness! Jesus is the Way, Truth and Life- no one can enter heaven, apart from Him- and that’s why the world is enraged… it wants “heaven” on its own terms. And that will never happen.

In the midst of this crazy, insane world in which we find ourselves…. trust in Jesus (Romans 10:9-10). Avoid the wrath of God and enjoy His peace!!

Beauty in the Desert…

It’s been a little while since I’ve updated the blog. I only update when I feel as though I’ve heard something from the Lord, and not just for the sake of keeping a schedule.

The last couple weeks have been a bit of a spiritual desert for me personally. Haven’t been hearing much… oh, my morning devotions are good, the teaching at church is excellent and fellowship has been great… but I just haven’t been “hearing” anything special.

This morning, Irene and I were looking for some plants for our home. Texas is a state that is made up of a lot of desert and I noticed that as we were searching for plants, that there could be and is in fact beauty in the desert and I took this photograph.

I took this photo because God was reminding me of His faithfulness at this dry time in my life. In our relocation to Texas from Washington- He has led us to a beautiful church fellowship. He has directed us into a wonderful bible study group in Isaiah. He has allowed Irene and I the blessing of being with our granddaughter for hours a day while our son and daughter-in-law are at work. And there are many more gifts from the Father that I could mention- these are but a few. The point is- even when things seem dry in our lives… God is working. He is faithful. His love is never ending. Amen. I needed to be reminded of that.

Lamentations 3:22-23…The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
